Help with Felix parts
« on: 5 Jan 2011, 08:38 pm »
Trying to figure out the parts needed to put together a felix or two, just making sure I'm not missing anything.  I do want the best parts and plan on using two on subwoofers and one on a projector.  What values would you change for the projector one?

Here's what I have come up with so far....

0.1uf X2

1.0uf X2

0.01uf x2

Coilcraft Coil

Any help is always appreciated.....

You need X or Y rated caps made for use across the AC line. See link to the Vishay Data sheet on suppression capacitors   http://www.vishay.com/docs/28119/mkp3382.pdf
A manufacturer specific search for "Vishay suppression capacitors" placed in the Keyword search window
on the Digi-Key website will bring up 4 pages of Vishay X and Y rated suppression capacitors.

I purchased these long lead components for build flexibility:

0.01μF:
http://www.futureelectronics.com/en/technologies/passives/capacitors/film-capacitors/Pages/6325229-F17723102030.aspx

0.1μF:

1.0μF:

I also purchased the same Coilcraft choke you linked and the JW Miller / Bourns choke from Arrow Components.

Octopart is a great resource for finding electronic components.

Martin/Scotty,

Thanks for the help.  I'm trying to get them all from the same supplier to avoid the shipping charges and minimun order surcharges.

These look to be rated for acoss the line use, can you confirm this?

Checking the PDF Data Sheets for the parts shows that they are X2 rated, see links to the Data Sheets found on the same page as your listed parts.

Ok, good I thought so.  Which is better X2 or Y2?  Looks like this Vishay might be better but its Y2
