AvaStar-Headphone performance
« on: 2 Jan 2011, 08:20 pm »
I am purchasing a set of Sennheiser HD800 headphones which are 300 ohm, 102dB rated.   Planning to plug in to my AvaStar pre using a Vision DAC and Marantz transport as a source.  Is that all good for getting optimal performance from the headphones or do I need to do something different?  Thanks.

The Avastar preamplifier headphone section will drive your new headphones very well, probably better than you even expect.  We get lots of customer feedback about how well our headphone drive circuits work.  the 300 ohm load is not problem at all for the Avastar.

I had the same concern with the AVA Insight + preamp, Frank said not to worry and with my 62 ohm AKG 702 the pre amp drives these  lower impedance phones as loud as you could imagine.

I also found a independent review of the Insight + and they confirmed the same, stellar performance.

Franks "stuff' is really first class.....

I cant imagine that this combo can get any better!!

All the best
Alex
