Recently got a great deal on an older Tallboy sub (<$100) and had a few questions.

Wondered (roughly) when this might have been manufactured, the 15" active woofer has the following on the back of it: X3967 and 9318.

Also, the PR is shot and wondered, is it worth upgrading this older model to mega woofers, OMG's??  Should I simply refoam the surround of the PR (other drivers are fine)?

Amplification:  I have an older Souncraftsmen amp (375W in 4 ohms) or Behringer EP2500, which would be better?

Finally, this sub has two sets of inputs with outputs and dials.  I won't be running satellites off of it and preamp sub out is crossed at 100Hz, should I remove the internal crossovers or???

I'm new to VMPS and look forward to the adventure!

Your sub is from 1993 and it is likely all the drivers are bad.

New PR's are $66ea, new 15" are $115 to $275ea, and new 12" are $125 to $240ea.  Either amp is fine but you'll need an electronic crossover if you plan to use a hinge frequency below 100Hz.  Most pre-processors offer this feature. You can bypass the internal passive xovers with a shift of wiring.

Do whatever upgrades  you can afford and you should get excellent results.
