Bill & Friends,
There is an Ultimate 70 by Van Alstine on ebay. It looks like it has Magnequest transformers. It also has a much larger center transformer than a stock ST-70. Any ideas what these parts might be?

The large power transformer could be from Triode.  When I built an Ultravalve for my own use, I used Magnaquest output transformers and a Tiode power transformer.  They look similar.  You end up swinging about 25 volts versus 22 volts with a standard setup.  Approx 40 watts versus 35 watts per channel.

I think the power transformer is the Triode Electronics version of the PA-060. I have one on my Ultimate 70, works dandy and runs substantially cooler than the stock unit.

Magnequest also made an "improved" replacement transformer for the PA-060 unit, but I have a feeling this is the Triode Electronics unit.  I wish I could make out the white lettering on the top of the transformer, but it's *just* too small to read.  I've had a couple of Magnequest PA-060 replacement transformers before and I don't recall them having a white rubber-stamp style label, but again, I could be mistaken.  If these are all Magnequest transformers, you're lookin' at $450.00 worth of iron and copper here!  (Plus the cost of the rest of the amplifier.)

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

If you squint the lettering is almost legible but I still have no idea what it says.

I am confident that the power transformer is a Triode
The writing on top of the transformer is as follows:
"PA-060-S
MADE IN U.S.A.
####"
Where the #### is the serial number.  I have one in my amp and it looks identical.  Also, the picture at Triode looks similar.
