I Have Started A New Thread

This photo "Cumulus Looms Over Junction H" was taken under an unsual set of circumstances; it was a weekday and I was outdoors while the sun is overhead.  I dunno about you, but that's pretty darn cool.  I had taken time off for the Roger Waters show and managed to dust off the 4x5 and grabbed a few shots.  I even went all out and used my graduated neutral density filters; which I should use more often but am often too lazy to bring out of their sheath.  But not this time!  Although it might have been okay without, I think I got some more density out of the sky with it in place.  I also slapped on an orange filter for grins.  This is a combination of two exposures, I realized that my full monty rear shift meant that I almost had zero overlap to work with, but luckily a few telltale bits in the road served as a reliable marker.  It was a very windy day and I do wonder if that poofy white bit right in the middle is the same one or not.  Entirely possible for the cloud to have moved in the time between swapping film.  Some minor lens flare in the middle is somewhat objectionable, but not a showstopper.

Nice - the ND filters certainly seemed to have worked well. You had the negative oriented vertically?

Yep.  I tend to favor portrait orientation on 4x5.  Landscape seems a bit too "squat".  I like 4x10 for landscapes, but this 5x8 isn't bad.

Hey!

Very nice shot there Nathan. :D

As for the filter, you mean the graduated ND filter right? Yes, it is very useful but I never carry it around with me  :duh:

I assumed that you scanned the neg right? You know I've been try to scanning film with my new cheap scanner and the scans I get never seem right

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Hi all.
A long time ago I used to take lots of Black & white pictures with my Rollei 2-1/4 X 2-1/4 with T-Max 400 iso films and most of the time I use the dark red filter (B+W 091).
Since I am in the professional photographic buisness importation and I am exclusive distributor for B+W and many other prestigious brands, I can try free of charge all kinds of filters and other stuff. I have also used in the past the LEE graduated filters and I like the ND 0.9, the real blue and sunset hard graduated filters. I still use my Maniya 645E and/or my Nikon D200.
If I can find the time, I will dig up in my photo albums and post a few black & white pictures and for the same price, I might throw in a few color ones as well.
