Bp16 and Pass Through without BR2 remote
« on: 6 Nov 2010, 06:45 pm »
Hello,

I have a BP16 and I'd like to set it up for Pass Though from an AV amplifier, but I don't have the BR2 remote.  Do I have to have the BR2 remote control to activate Pass Through?

Thanks

Ron

It does look to me like you need the BR2 to activate Pass Through ( and the T2 12v TRIGGER ) on the BP16.  I'm not prepared to spend another 21% of the purchase price of my Amplifier on a remote control just to activate a feature that I need (and another that I'd like).

Any suggestions?

Hi Ron,

Your dealer should have a remote and if you have a learning remote you could go that way?
Also give Mike Pickett an email as he may have some ideas.

I borrowed my dealer's remote for a hour to set up the passthrough and test it.

That's why I like a learning remote such as logitech, you can download codes and program it very easily.

Thanks for your reply.

My dealer is sending me a BR2 remote and I'll program my Harmony with that.  I'll see how that goes and if I have problems then I'll contact Mike Pickett.

It would nice if the IR Hex codes for the BP2 remote’s code and the number buttons were added to the Harmony Database.  My understanding is that Harmony Support will do this on request.

Also it would be very useful if you posted the IR Hex codes for this remote, then we as customers could program universal remotes using these Hex codes.  Unfortunately, Harmony doesn't (to my understanding) allow you to do this, but universal remote such as the L5 remote for the iphone do..

This leads me to a qualified criticism of your B100 and BP16 amplifiers.  I say qualified because I'm normally a huge fan of your equipment and your general customer policy. That’s why I'm astonished that you sell amplifiers with features ( pass through and T2 trigger ) that aren't available unless you spend a lot more on an optional remote control ( in the case of the BP16 in Switzerland 20% more ).  I think that this is really poor.

In the end for me it's not going to be too much of a problem, but it very easily could have been.  Also because you don't have a very big presence here in Switzerland and my dealer is one and a half hours drive away, popping in to borrow a remote is not that easy.

Nevertheless, thanks for your reply and your help with this.
