Chamber Music Recordings

    Hello,

I would be grateful for any recommendations (CD Format) for Chamber Music.
I am aware of the thread regarding those including trumpet, but was wondering if there any other recordings of merit.
I favor woodwinds, but am not limited to such.
I am looking for the balance of performance vs. sound; shading slightly toward performance.
And to be honest, price don't hurt either.
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated, and I thank you in advance.

Here are a couple of fine sounding and lovely chamber sized orchestra recommendations-

A cantata from Bach, Actus Tragicus BWV 106 on French Harmonia Mundi and Vivaldi's Concerti for Wind and Strings on Argo.  Enjoy.

ZLS, sorry, perhaps I won't fulfill your exact request but I would like to share my "50 Great Chamber Works Recommended by Feanor": see HERE.  I've aimed for a good cross section of chamber from the Baroque to Contemporary.  Personally I'm fond of string quartets and this bias may show to some extent.

My recording suggestions are from my own, fairly limited collection, so I won't guarantee that they are necessarily the best recording available of the given work, however they are all listenable, IMO.

Nice list, thanks.  By the way, there's no such thing as a bias in favor of string quartets, it's merely an acknowledgment of the truth! :D

ZLS, since you're interested in woodwind recordings, you might try the Brahms and Mozart clarinet quintets on Feanor's list.  They're classics.
