My enthusiasm for the group had definitely dipped over the last few years and tonight I was taking advantage of some free box seats through my wife's company.  It was probably my sixth time seeing the band live and it probably tied Purdue University (dave and tim) for the best!

Great show, good selections, solid acoustics and they closed the encore with All Along the Watchtower!

Not too shabby....  my expectations were exceeded.

This person did.... Link...

Actually, my wife and I thought that the acoustics were terrible. If I didn't know the songs and their hooks I would have had a hard time identifying the songs at all.

Consequently we walked out during that first encore to beat the traffic.

Both Bob and Fred have good hearing. Nassau Coliseum in general has terrible acoustics but of course, like anywhere, there have to be some good seats.

I was seated slightly off to the left when facing the band up in one of the private boxes.  The SQ of the coliseum isn't horrific, nor is it great.  The few concerts I've seen at Nassau sounded better then MSG for instance.

I did have a bit of a corridor effect in the box which was obnoxious, but when I stuck my head in front of the 'spit guard' in front  of our seats and into the open space, things didn't sound bad at all.  The SQ of Roger Waters doing the Wall a couple weeks ago was better there, but DMBs was the second best (SQ) I've heard the band.

I think the unlimited beer, wings and private listening room equipped with its own bathroom greatly contributed to the overall experience for me too though.   :green:

Unlimited beer , wings, private bathroom, good setup > sounds great to me and I didnt even go. I think MSGs acoustics are pretty good, at least they were awesome for Waters. Sux I missed DMB they are one incredible live band. :thumb:

Even concert venue acoustics are subjective in this hobby!  lol.

I guess a lot of it has to do with each group's setup as well.  I saw Arcade Fire at MSG a couple months ago and the acoustics left something to be desired, though the energy was really awesome.
