BDP-1 Interview
« on: 20 Sep 2010, 02:01 pm »
Hi Folks,

Here is an interview I did recently on the BDP-1 Digital Player - it may help with some of the questions that have been raised.

It seems similar to the perfectwave dac, except that there is no dac inside nor is there a synergistic link via the I2S bus to such a dac.  Am I missing something?   And is there any synergy with the Bryston DAC?  I don't mean this negatively -- I am looking for just such a product and literally ready about the PS Audio product last night.  So the similarities/differences are on my mind.

Hi There,

Yes the AES-EBU and BNC output is optimized for our DAC.

Hi Volks,

We hope to have the first units for sale in mid October. We are very heavily backorder.

Understatement of the day:

"Generally we get feedback from our customers, dealers, and distributors as to what product they would like to see Bryston producing".

The correct phrase would be "we go through epic discussions and endure all forms of abuse from some of our lighthearted, banter and prank inclined customers on audiocircle until we fine tune our designs"  :green:

"the “Bryston MINI,” which runs on handheld devices like an iPod touch, iPad, iPhone etc., and the “Bryston MAX” under development, which uses standard web-browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Safari on your desktop or laptop computer"

I'm assuming that the model now available is the MINI?  The MAX may be available when?  Will it be either/or in the future or is it a matter of I clearly don't understand what's going on?
That's entirely possible! :D

Hi,

Mini works now and MAX will by showtime this week.  You can also use web-browser Firefox with Minion (works great) as well as MPod (Apple APP).

I like this - "resident delusional audiophile" :icon_twisted:  It's something most of us can relate to by what we do vs. the average person.

Hi James,

Is your heavy backorder allocated for the North American market only?

Will other world regions receive any stock?

I am in Australia and would buy one as soon as it landed on our shores.

Regards,

Scott

Hi James,

Thanks for the info.

Time to make a few calls and see if I can get my name on one.
