The upgrade fever has hit so I decided to replace my Spectron Musician II Hybrid Mk II. The amp works perfectly with out any mechanical issue. However she is not as pretty as she once was. The silver coating on the front has a scratch and the coating is worn on the edge (see pics). I think someone with a steady hand and a marker can easily conceal these blemishes.

The Spectron Musician has been uniformally praised by the professional reviewers:

Wayne Donnelly of Enjoy the Music kept his review pair explaining that "I have no qualms about pronouncing the Musician III a tremendous value. Anyone looking for powerful yet highly refined amplification would be foolish to ignore the Spectron Musician III. I believe it will serve me well as a standard against which to measure other amplifiers."

Stereo Times reviewer Greg Weaver also kept his review pair after noting that "Is this amp perfect? Not likely: nothing is. Yet it comes as close to my idea of perfection as I've yet encountered. In terms of power, dynamics, attack, control, presentation, grace, resolve, involvement and voicing, I don't know of a single amplifier, at any price, that would embarrass the Spectron Musician II. It has more successfully achieved that delicate balance between brute force and artistic expression than any amplifier I've had the pleasure of hearing. And at $3500, that makes it possibly the best value in amplification available today. Run, don't walk, to your nearest Spectron dealer and hear what you've been missing. John, you can't have this one back!"

Adam Goldfine of Positive Feedback lamented that he couldn't afford to buy his review pair. "The amps are ideal for a reviewer given their power, lack of character, ability to play music and capacity to drive anything. If I could afford them, I would buy them; if you can afford them, you will be acquiring a true reference."

Spectron offers a phenomenal upgrade path for their Musician amps. My amp was originally a Musician II model, but in December 2009 it was upgraded to the Hybrid Mk II version. Spectron describes this upgrade as "in essence, the creation of a practically new product - the Musician Hybrid Plus. This new amp is based on your Musician II which will have 3 out of 4 boards being replaced with new Musician III Mk2 electronics which includes the heart and soul of the Musician III Mk2 - new redesigned "digital" modules giving the non-artificial life-like sound described in many reviews."

"The sound is much better than a Musician II and almost indistinguishable from a Musician III SE. Veil is gone and holographic depiction of soundstage is expanded. Bass is deeper, richer and with greater slam. The specs are also very similar to that of the Musician III Mk2. Naturally, the look is still an elegant Musician II look."

I'm asking $1895 $1750 plus shipping.  I live in Austin TX  78731.  The amp weighs 65 ponds and I will only ship within the U.S.  I accept check, money orders, and PayPal but the buyer must pay their fees.

Thanks,

Jeff

More than you'll ever need.  Something like 600w iirc.  Was one of the best amps I've owned.

Thanks Josh, thinking of maybe swapping out some plate amps in my tri amp setup and use SS or class D amps to power the low end.  That will be plenty of power.  Wonder how it will sound?

Rob...the Musician was driving a pair of Maggie 3.6 speakers.   They sounded full, controlled, and sweet.  What do plan on pairing the Musician with?
