Subject: RE: 4B SST Pro

Hi James,

This amp is much smoother and more natural in the upper mids and HF than the 4NRB I had. Its the first amp thats made me forget my old Threshold SA4e!

Its more detailed and clearer-sounding than my Mac MC-402. The Mac may be a touch sweeter in the top end, but this is at the expense of clarity and resolution. The bottom end is no contest, the 4B is much tighter and has greater definition.

I might sell the Mac, get another 4B SST Pro and then passively bi-amp the Arrays. This would allow me to adjust the HF down a bit with the second amp and really take the bass impact up to another level.

I will need to buy a second one when I sell the Mac?

Thanks for everything...this amp is everything I hoped it would be and I really appreciate all the great advice...Ken

Definitely. McIntosh is no slouch, so that report is pretty impressive.
