Spendor FL8 Audiophile Tower Floorstanding Loudspeakers - Original MSRP $2499 - Rubbed cherry veneer - Handcrafted in England. These aesthetically and aurally beautiful and are in excellent condition. The finish is cherry veneer. Incredible components including Vifa D27 Tweeters and Spendor's own 8" polypropolyne woofers. Hand wired crossovers, internally braced cabinets... Magical! Spendor has been around for thirty-odd years. Founded back in the 1960’s by Spencer and Dorothy Hughes, it grew out of expertise gained in the engineering department of the BBC. The company has designed and marketed a number of outstanding speakers over the years, gaining a worldwide reputation for quality with models like the classic LS3/5. I would rate these speakers as 9/10, except for a small, 1/8" blemish in the veneer finish located in the rear, upper corner of one. The blemishes are not the result of abuse; rather the veneer finish on these speakers, while exquisite, is very fragile along the edge surfaces. Any handling of the speakers (e.g., moving them about to find their sweet spot in a room) will stress these fragile surfaces. These speakers are terrific at imaging and have terrific bottom-end. Situated two feet out from the back wall of our living room, there was terrific "room lock" on very low frequencies. They are also very easy to amplify. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs from Atlanta. I do not have original boxes or packing materials. I will double box and ship each speaker seperately. $725.00 OBO.
