I've had my Cambridge Audio player now for about 2 weeks and this player just keeps getting better and better as it breaks in.

It has that certain quality that is missing from affordable Japanese DVD-A players. It has a real sense of rhythm, timing and pace. In short this thing really knows how to play "MUSIC".

If your looking for a affordable DVD-A player and sound quality is your priority give this player an audition it really knows how to "SWING"

The best part is it's price,it retails in Canada for $489.00

A really good progressive picture is just icing on the cake.

couple of Q's. Is this a MC player? Is it also a DVD-V player? If so how is the PQ?

It cetainly is MC. It uses Crystals latest 24/192 DAC.The player it is replacing in my system used separate DAC's on the front and rear channels. Having 1 DAC gives a much more cohesive surround sound presentation on DVD-A.

The picture quality is also very good all though I must admit that I use it strickly as an audio player. The layer change is seamless. Layer changes that can take up to a second on my Sony 999ES are not even noticable on the Cambridge

here is a question...
does it output 24/96 PCM from a DVD-A ...supposing you had one that was a two track 24/96 recording (which I am soon to have lots of).
i'm looking for a DVD-A/V player that will do this, and not cost too much. i want to use the DAC in my Musical Fidelity CD-PRE24, which I love.

The Cambridge will pass 96khz signal out of the digital output provided that the disc is not copyright protected. If it has the copyright flag it will down convert to 48 khz.

It even has a option to pass a 192khz signal.

Check out Classic Records website they just anounced that they were going to start releasing 24/96 discs that can be played on any dvd player.

On the other side of the disc will be a 24/192 stereo DVD-Audio track.they call them HDAD's

The best part, NO COPY PROTECTION, if your player will pass the signal you can send it digitally to a out board DAC.
