Pioneer Power Supply

Dan, you mentioned developing a new power supply board for the Pioneer players.  Is is possible for you to make this available so people can buy the board and install it themselves in their player?  Is it set up to mount into the player and connect to the power wire harness like the existing Pioneer P/S board? Thanks.

Pioneer PS

Hi, the Pioneer PS that I have designed is not a COMPLETE replacement.  The stock supply provides a number of voltages:

3.3V
6V
5V
12V
-27V
35V
...

Etc.

Our supply merely replaces the +12V and +5V supplies which power the digital out and audio circuits.  This retains the switch-mode supply for video and other motor functions.

The installation actually requires a bit of soldering and wiring.  I do not expect that we will offer this as a kit.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Do you feel there is a need to add this power supply to a Pioneer 563 with Universal Truth mods?  I believe the Universal Truth mod includes a linear power supply for the tube output stage -- can/does it also power the DAC and digital out?

Also, on your website you suggest using an analog Slipstream Bybee on the modded Pioneer -- would this be placed between the tube output stage and the output jacks?

Thanks!

563, Tubes and New Supply

Well, first of all, at this point we are not offering our Universal Truth mods for the 563A as there simply isn't enough room.  The ONLY way we could do it, would be with an outboard power supply.  This would be more costly than the existing $700 Universal Truth mod.

The new audio supply actually provides a linear-regulated supply for the DACs and I-V stage op-amps, so it is worthwhile still.

If there is definite interest in a tube mod for the 563A, it can be done with the outboard supply and since there will be additional cost associated with the outboard supply, we can also implement a more sophisticated supply design.

Please post if this is of interest, so that I know what the demand is.

Thanks,

Dan
