How good is the Fostex FE126E for OB???

Today I picked up a pair of OBs with Fostex FE126E drivers. I look at the T/S and the Qts is .25 and the xmax is .35mm.

They sound OK, but the data looks like it would not do so well in OB. Is there any better 4.5" drivers that would be better in this app???

I've seen those before somewhere. Not an OB, rather a front-loaded horn for the Fostex. Whether it's properly designed or not, though, I have no idea.

I should have posted this picture as well. It is an OB as you can see. Sort of a high bred between horn and OB. I added the pic of the back to the first post.

Interesting speakers. Here is a link to youtube vid of the speakers playing.

I think the low Qts driver is intentionally used so that there is less low freq bump at the cutoff. You can try a Hemp Acoustic FR4.5C which has a higher Qts and fairly low Fs. I am a bass reflex guy, and have mine in a 15L slim floorstander. as shown in the pic (still under construction).
How much sensitivity(dB) did you gain from horn loading the fostex ?

I am not sure about how much db I gain from the horn. The drivers are 96db to start with. There is some break up at high volume but at a level I don't listen to anyway.

What drivers are 96dB. FE126e is 92.5-93 dB.

Hey Planet, sorry, yes the driver is 93, but the guy who built them claims that with the horn it jumps up to 96db. I have not measured them yet to confirm.
