 :D on the Gon,a Thorens Ref, 28 year old TT sellin' for a tiny sum of 50 large.wonder what the deck sold for new or is she a rare collector....who buys these things ???? :scratch: :D

I saw one once - a beautiful machine. It was Thorens ultimate. Looked like a Queen's throne, pearl and gold. Late '70's I believe. Goldmund then came out with the Reference.

The Thorens Reference was presented at the IFA Berlin, Germany in September 1979:

Thorens built 100 units by order only with styling(color etc.) and features according to the customers' request.
The advertising price for the turntable only was 12000 DM - about $6700 at that time, but it soon increased to $9900.

by the way, it's a perfect turntable for a newbie ... :lol:
because it's "built for eternity", e.g., the floating subchassis alone consists of 121 lbs aluminium alloy made by sand casting.
