NuForce P8
« on: 28 Jul 2010, 03:03 am »
This is my first post here.

I have a P8 pre that I'm swapping back and forth in my system with an ARC SP16. System is:Vandersteen 3A Sigs,Oppo 980H, Benchmark DAC 1, Bryston 3BST, Technics 1200 MKII, AT 440MLA Cartridge, NAD PP2 (w/P8 only).
Does the NuForce benefit from aftermarket pc's, ie, The LessLoss? Also does anyone have any experience with the Bryston 3Bst and P8 combo? Is that a good match technically speaking (impedance matching)?
I like the P8 better in terms of transparency, detail, and the blackness of the background. It's presentation is deeper in the soundstage.
It's a great preamp and has not been given it's due in the press.
Any response would be greatly appreciated.

My experience with LessLoss DFPC's on Nuforce gear is excellent. I had it on P8, now on P9, and on my Ref 9's. Blacker backgrounds, more transparency, increased detail without any hint of over-analytical, larger stage, both width and height.

Highly recommended!

Thanks for the reply. Will try it on the P8. I already have one on the Bryston. I'm surprised at how good this preamp is, compared to the ARC tube pre. The ARC is more upfront and in your face and maybe a bit more dynamic but sounds a little cloudy and not as detailed-transparent as the P8. My other tube preamps are more open sounding (AIMod 3A and Counterpoint SA1000). The SP16's phono stage is quite a bit better than the NAD PP2 combined with the P8 however.
