Sucessful Demos! Word of Mouth Advertising!
« on: 8 Jul 2010, 01:10 am »
Well,

I just got a nice email from Trey, a nice guy who asked to hear the SongTowers at my place in North Carolina:

""I finally decided on a Song Tower HT using standard STs in the front, a front-ported Song Center and 2 front-ported Song Towers in the rear. I wound up going with dome tweets thanks in large part to the demo at your place. They should arrive in the next few weeks""

Congratulations to Trey, this is the second person to actually stop in and listen and will now be part of the Salk family! Yahoo.

This saturday another person from the northern VA area will be here for an audition!

Its so nice to share the joy of music and such awesome speakers. I just spent an hour selecting stuff to play and demo!

This in itself was awesome...

All the best
Alex

Hey Jared!

We should get together and open up a Salk South Demo Salon!!  :D

I got the Squeezebox Touch working and am waiting on one of those Ultravalve amps from Frank A and a preamp to go with it...should be interesting to see how this will sound compared to the Onkyo...time will tell...

Hope all is well with you!

Ya everything is good here, I can bring the 550EX over to compare with the ultravalve sometime when I am down your way if you want.   It will be a good combo I am pretty sure I heard the UV at DMurphy's last year.

Hi,

Its pretty easy to sell a pair of Jim's speakers.  I do a lot of research on the internet regarding various components and it is really difficult to find a pair of speakers that use the same level of components and have a high level of fit and finish.

I've read the audioholics review and podcast and Tom Landry was raving about salk sound speakers.

Regards

Rod

Shouldn't be long now!

Thank you both Alex and Jared. Truly awesome sound and hospitality at each home.

Now I've got to make up my mind what to purchase to drive HT and 2 channel. Hopefully this process won't take me as long. I may try to pick up an AVR in the short term then try to add a pre, amp and maybe a DAC.

Just get an AVR with Preouts that way you can add an amp at any point.

Hi Trey,

A good, versatile receiver will be just fine....most of us have budgets and somewhat doubt all the claims about this dac or that pre or that amp makes things so, so, much better...I think if all the claims for 'removing the veil' were true the sound would be better than real life!!!

But human nature is a funny thing....we get a AVR, a mediocre set of speakers, and then discover that really nice speakers really do sound different..get a pair of them...then its nirvana...for awhile..then its the old "I wonder if...that tube amp or that dac would maket things sound so, so much better!!"...

Logic falls behind, the VISA card comes out and away we go!!

So be prepared for the ride and save some of your budget for new stuff, and more importantly DEMO CD'S!!

Now when is my new preamp and amp arriving??

Congratulations Trey. Welcome to the Salk family. As noted by others, it's an addictive hobby, take it slow & don't OD.

Now when is my new preamp and amp arriving??

Alex and Jared - where are you guys located? I'm in Charlotte. I bought a pair of Archos which you might be interested in hearing and visa versa.

I am in Asheboro NC about 1.5 from you and Alex is in Raleigh, right by my favorite pizza place  :thumb:.  I am actually heading that way for Canfest Aug 14, maybe I could swing by and bring the AVA amp along if that is acceptable.

Hi,

Yes I am in Raleigh, and anytime you want to stop in and listen just send me a note so we can set something up etc..

I have not made it to Jared's to listen to the HT2-TL's...afraid if I did this I would want to get a pair!!.

All the best

You wouldn't be the first!  :) I have heard both the ST's and HT2TL's and while they are very similar, the HT's take audio nirvana to a whole other level. And I am not saying the ST's are bad.

Right now all I have is some empty floor space where my future Salks will go...just don't know when at this point.
