Dang, the lighting on that motorcycle shot is a real beaut!

I dunno about Phocus, but the promo video starts out with the #1 reason to NOT buy an iMac.  Ticks me off cause I really want one...*sigh*

That it has orange letters hanging in the air in front of it? That someone else is already using it?

Ohh.... the glossy screen! Funny, I never notice it.

Do you have a sheet of black velvet behind your chair?  Heh!  I know it probably looks great on axis, but I really have a pet peeve about glare.  Glossy paper, glossy screens...they lure you in with their deep blacks and punchy contrast, then punish you with ambient lights and windows.  I've heard tell that at Best Buy stores the Mac displays are conveniently placed against dark walls, although I haven't verified it myself.

BTW, sorry about the near-instantaneous thread derailment, Navi.

I made it 90% through the registration to get the software but it asked for an online portfolio. No tengo.  :duh:

No, but no lights or windows either ;) I'll try harder to notice it... dang!, now it'll be like the tune that sticks in you head :(

Back on topic... what does this software do? I'm too impatient to watch a video.

It seems to be geared toward the high-end, big dollar professional market.  I mean, if you can afford any of that digital Hasselblad stuff you're probably a working pro.

From the site:

The H4D also comes bundled with our new Phocus 2.0 imaging software, which features a dramatically reduced learning curve and enables the average photographer to be up to speed in less than 30 minutes.

 Really?  The "average photographer" buys a $20,000 camera rig?

that reflection shot in the video is pretty funny.  I am so close myself to getting an iMac, but likely will keep my NEC LCD for photo stuff if the gloss is unbearable.  the i5 27" imac seems like the value deal vs macbook and powermac.

I think/assume that you can use an external display with the iMacs. Seems weird to do so though. I never understood why Apple didn't have something between the mini and the pro. I guess that must be a pretty small market niche now - ? I never liked the idea of the iMac but here I am typing away on my giant 27" i7. I can view photos on-screen larger than I can print them...
