Nap - Option 3 sounds intriguing. I'm going to attempt it. Maybe I can get my dealer to loan me the tool. Okay. Dumb question. The SPL meter, right?

Not me.... I'm a crisp clean clear detailed sound lover.... (yeah I know bad taste according to audiophiles) for me the sub didn't do much but muddy things and complicate my existence.....

I'm strickly 2-Channel Bypass when I listen to music. The Paradigms are amazing paired with the 4B SST2, and need no assistance from the subs.  :thumb: I would only use the subs for my HT. I'm a gamer and I want to feel the bombs dropping around me when I play MW2.

Hi Ryanz,

You can use a sound meter/spectrum analyser and try to make all frequencies as even as possible.  Actually if you can get a bit more output in the 30 to 20 Hz range vs. the 40Hz and up range it can add a nice visceral effect to the soundtracks.

A trick I have tried (I call it the reciprocal trick) and seems to work is put the SUB where you SIT and walk around the perimeter of the room - where the bass sounds/measures full and even - place the woofer in that location.

You can also try the empirical "Hail Mary" approach. Use the track from here:

and try placing the sub for maximum impact. When a riotous mob of neighbors start banging your door down you'll know that you hit the right spot.

Ryanz,

I always think two subs are better than one.  Especially for Stereo / Music listening.  If your current sub integrates well and isn't over loading the room, another one will be just fine.  It will give you better stereo imaging of low notes.

I have two myself and love them.  Granted, my subs don't go down to 15 or 28 hz, but it's better with them for sure!
