Mystery Box?
« on: 13 May 2010, 12:11 pm »
I discovered this photo on  AudiogoN  of the recent AKFest:

I recognize most of the equipment. However can anyone tell me what the box located behind the Van Alstine gear, center position with the yellow? plugs is?

Thanks

Harrison

Very true.  Captive power cords...yeah, you're right.  It's probably just a nice wooden box with some outlets.  A fancy power strip!

I believe that is Pete's outlet box.  I can't see the pics in the thread Jason linked to but I recall from the original thread that Pete had those feet lying around and decided to use them.  Why would I remember the feet you ask?  I would like to pick up 6 of them for a project I am currently working on and reviewed Pete's thread to see if he listed where he bought them...he didn't.

Best,
Ed

May I remind you that Frank and Jim Salk share the room. To ass/u/me that the power strip is Frank's because it's behind his equipment would be a false assumption, perhaps.

I never noticed the box at all.  Too busy with the rest of the setup at the show.

I suspect it belongs to Pete and is some kind of power conditioner.  I have no idea if it was doing any good or not.

Regards,

Frank

Just an 8 outlet box because the wall outlets were few and far between.  No secret sauce inside, just 4 gauge copper strips and cryo'd outlets.  I don;t use it daily but brought it along to try and keep the wiring tidy given we had quite a few components to plug in.  Nothing juicy.  Stand down. :D

Feet came from Parts Express I think.

Didn't you notice my water glass cable elevators?  We had digital and analog wires crossing power cables all over so I improvised with what I could use from the room.  I didn't want anyone to have the opportunity to say we had cables touching, even though most were at 90 degrees.
