AUDIOLAB 8000C PREAMP

No need to say much about this latter-day classic that gives audiophile sound from an elegantly simple package; ultra-clean and neutral with stunning natural delivery. Quoting Britain's Gramophone magazine: "It combines impressive facilities with myriad inputs and outputs, and tone controls possessing a gentle nature, avoiding the excesses of most designs that only encourage misuse. Discrete transistor amplifier stages are employed throughout; integrated circuits have been eschewed. Although all the components, with the exception of a toroidal power transformer at the right rear, are mounted on a single glassfibre printed circuit board covering the whole remaining area, there are really six distinct divisions. The first two are concerned with housekeeping, namely power supplies and turn-on delay plus output switching. Two of the remaining divisions are separate prepre-amplifiers for moving-coil and moving-magnet pickup inputs. On test the 8000C performed accurately to specification, albeit usually slightly better ... The 8000C is a first grade product, very well considered and executed."
Just back from the shop where $250 has been spent on testing, cleaning and the upgrading of interior & exterior components, ie. rca jacks & capacitors, with receipt available for perusal. Casework is completely unmarred. If I had the space to keep it, it wouldn't be listed here!
Asking $400 + shipping. Shipping from Toronto. Pics coming.
Cash or bank e-transfer preferred.
