The Stick Review
« on: 28 Apr 2010, 05:55 am »
Hi everyone,

I thought I would share my take on the new Sticks.  I have done a review on my blog which can be found here - http://audioaddictionaustralia.blogspot.com/

I am the distributor for Omega in Australia however I wouldn't have taken them on if they didn't perform.  I have tried to keep this as unbiased as possible and treat it as a review instead of a product promotion.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free in adding them.

Thanks,

Tony Schmidt

Dear Tony;
I appreciate your review of the Sticks....... I am only waiting patiently to see if Louis orders a batch of 5" Alnicos to start the (never-ending)upgrade path for these speakers. When I am able to get those, I will retire my Super 5's to the pottery studio, driven by the Glow One SET amp.

Meanwhile, my new "Final Music System" (ha ha) detailed in my Galleries is settling in after a protracted break in of the V-caps, and is now breathing out gorgeous music. Cheers! Hank

So Louis finished designing the 5" alnico drivers and is now pondering whether to place an initial bulk order pending assessment of anticipated demand?

That's a lovely looking amp Hank.

When I first contacted Louis he mentioned that it was going to be a while before he had the Alnico drivers ready.  So I decided to get the sticks now and just change out the driver later on.

Might be a while before these are ready but I might be wrong.  Might be better for Louis to answer that one.  If they sound this good with a standard driver, the Alnico version could possibly be mind blowing.  I've had a few people audition the sticks and they keep saying the same thing.

"These are brillant, how much did you say they were?"  with eyes wide open. :o

Well done Louis. :thumb: :thumb:

I'd really be interested in hearing a bipole version of the Sticks with the new alnico drivers of course.  :eyebrows: I bet they would be ultra 3D holographic.

Hi Tony,

I've just read your blog and it is really refreshing business method that you have introduced for Australian customers.  Whilst in the short term I'm not in the market for any products I will consider some of your products in the future.

As you are probably aware we typically pay double the price for audio products when comparing prices in the US.  Since 2000 I have imported gear into Australia and whilst it has been my experience that it is cheaper the risk that you take is you don't have any dealer backup.  Importing speakers are another matter and by the time you take into account shipping by sea and the services of a customs broker it really adds to the price.  So many hidden costs for the unwary customer.

Are you able to give an indication how much it would cost for shipping for these speakers or subwoofers to Perth Western Australia would be?

Thanks

Rod

Thanks Rod.  I've sent you a PM concerning freight costs.  I'm glad you recognise what I'm out there trying to achieve.  For far too long Australian audio lovers have had to pay too much and I want to change that.

kbuzz, maybe we can ask for other Stick owners to add some of their photos.  I'll also see what other photos I have.
