Source for leather (for baffles for my new N2x's)
« on: 4 May 2010, 11:34 pm »
Hi,

I hope it's ok to be posting this question in the circle (if not .... please remove this post) but I'm building a pair N2x speakers into an enclosure which has the baffles as a separate piece that fits into a cavity on the front of the speaker. I was thinking of doing a black textured leather covering on the baffle. Can anyone point me to where I might be able to source some leather for that at reasonable cost?

Cheers
Will

I found a good source on Ebay but it doesn't look like he's still on their.  You could also try your' local leather smiths.  It was a bit of a pain to work with, bunching under your corners will require some creativity.

This is my favorite link to an online discounter, found in pursuing another unrelated hobby.  Check back often because the selection really does change daily.  Much bang for the buck and a great product. http://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/

Otherwise, as odd as it may sound, find a rendezvous or similar reenactment/living history event local to you - odds are good to find at least one solid leather vendor and they will most often be selling whole splits/sides.

Good luck!
