i am not familiar w/the mpx, but i own a really nice (never serviced) fa-680. (as well as a couple lesser pilot tunas.) i can unhesitatingly recommend this set-up, especially if it's been refurb'd by mr dewick. the sound of these tunas thru a good mpx is really quite exceptional, rivaling the best "holy grail" tunas. and reception, while not as good as the best s/s dx sleuths, is still quite respectable, and will be ok in all but the most difficult fringe areas.
