They have the same drivers, but the HT2-TL has a Transmission Line cabinet design, which gives it more bass extension.  If you're thinking HT2, go ahead and order the HT2-TL.

^ what he said.  Here's the link to the HT2-TL on the Salk website, which describes the differences the transmission line design provides:

Hi,

It really hurts me when I read threads like this.  I was an early adopter and purchased a pair ht2's.  The bass goes quite low in my system but the tl's seem to get a lot of positive comments whilst the ht2's don't seem to even register :( .  I haven't heard the ht2 tl's but if $400US is a deal killer I'd go with the ht2's.

In a smallish room the ht2's sound fabulous.

I don't think anyone is knocking the HT2 at all.  They are a rockin' speaker for the price.

Hi Nuance,

I guess price was a consideration for me at the time when I was purchasing the speakers.  I had the opportunity to purchase the v3 speaker but $400US was just a little more than I could afford.  I had to pay an addition $1300au when the speakers landed in Australia.

The ht2 is that good that I'm not sure whether the ht3 would be appreciably any better apart from deeper bass performance.
