Question about the HT2-TL
« on: 21 Mar 2010, 12:45 am »
It is my understanding that the HT2-TL is a transmission line system.  Could someone please tell me where the speakers' vent is?     I have tried to find it in the pictures.  Is it on the back of the speaker?  Thanks in advance.

Port is on the back and towards the base of the enclosure.

NYC_Paramedic is correct.  Normally the terminus is located on the bottom of the rear panel.  Due to the nature of the design, however, it can also be placed on the bottom of the front baffle and achieve the same basic results.

So the port can be placed on the front baffle?  Is it an open port, or is it covered by some sort of material?  Also, can the outboard crossovers have the Sonicap platinum bypass caps?

Normally, the port would be open.  It would probably look a little odd having a small grill to cover the port.  But you would certainly create a full-length grill if you created the cabinet without a separate baffle around the driver section.

You can have the bypass caps no matter where the crossover is located.  But there is really no strong justification for outboard crossovers unless you are anticipating going fully active at some point in the future.
