Questions about the BDA-1
« on: 13 Mar 2010, 01:30 am »
Right now I am using a fairly good pioneer elite dvd player for Cd playback in my system.  I want to improve the sound of CD playback and through my Sonos, so the BDA-1 appears to be the best option (I'm open to other suggestions).  However, I have not been able to demo the BDA-1 so I have a couple of questions.

1.  will the combo of my dvd payer and the BDA-1 sound comparable to the BCD-1 (I have demoed the BCD and it blew everything else I've heard out of the water);

2.  does the BDA-1 allow for 5.1 pass through (I only have one coax out of my dvd player, so my concern is that if I connect my dvd player to the BDA-1 via coax I won't be able to get 5.1 when I want to watch a dvd without switching cables around).

thanks

Hello

Pioneer make decent transports in the Elite series. I usde a Pioneer dv57i UDP into my Bda and it sounds really nice. Very comparable to the BCD. Sold my BCD to make funs for my 14B since the Pioneer did the trick and i didnt want to tie up to much money in cd playback.

SMS1977,

the BCD-1 and the BDA-1 do sound very similar. personally i cannot tell the difference soundwise. if there should be differences they are slightly. the sound of both of them is very, very good!
