Well soon, anyway.  Have just ordered a pair today.

I must admit, this is a bit of a left field decision, having previously owned an Art Audio Quintet and Border Patrol power supply.  I'm buying blind, but had some strangely amazing sounds come from little Kore-eda PLA1 class D amp I recently borrowed while my Quintet was being repaired, so I'm hoping for much goodness  :D

Rest of the system:
Modwright Transporter
Kondo M7 pre
Living Voice IBX/R2 loudspeakers.

Hi browellm,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

Looks like you have some really nice components to mate with your Signature 70.2s!  Yes - expect a whole lot of goodness!  8)   And please keep us posted.

All the best,

Vinnie

browellm, welcome to RWA gear. With the exception of my sub woofer, I'm 100% off the grid and loving it. Let us know what you think after listening to your new amp. Kent
P.S. Vinnie's preamp and DAC are really sweet, if you ever want to take the next step.

I like Eadron's suggestion!  :thumb:

Seriously - I'm sure the 70.2s will gel with the M7 (I've heard good things about it) and we'll be looking forward to your impressions.

I should be able to have your 70.2s ready to ship to Angelsound Audio by the end of next week, and I'll be sure to include the UK plugs on the chargers

Best regards,

Vinnie

Excellent Vinnie, thanks.  I shall sit and patiently chew my fingernails in anticipation!

One quick question.  I read that you provide(d) a low and high gain model?  Is that still the case?

If so, I would probably prefer the low gain variant, as the M7 has lots of gain, and the LV's are quite sensitive at 94dB.

The standard gain for the Signature 30.2 power amp and Signature 70.2 monoblocks is 24dB.

On custom request, we can also set the gain to 30dB (e.g. if the customer is using a passive preamp and/or low voltage source and needs more gain).  In fact, the Signature 30.2 Integrated gain is 30dB - the reason is because we use a passive volume control in front of the amplifier board.

So for your 70.2s, we'll definitely go with the standard gain (24dB).

Any idea how much gain your M7 has?  So many preamps have A LOT of gain (too much in my opinion) - but that is an whole other topic

Best regards,

Vinnie

I have no idea Vinnie, it's quite an old one (1996), and at that time Mr. Kondo was doing a lot of experimentation.  As such they are all a little bit different from around that time, and it would be difficult to refer to a spec sheet.  Some have solid state rectification for instance, others including my own are valve rectified.

Ok - no problem.  I'm sure it'll work out fine!

Until then,
