I'd love to hear them. What about a Songbird with ribbon tweeter and matching center?

A SongBird with a ribbon tweeter can be done.  That is no problem.  But it seems to me this is kind of like putting a 400HP V-8 into a Honda Civic.  Not that there is anything wrong with a Civic, mind you, but it seems like a rather expensive tweeter to use in a lower cost (but high performing) speaker.  This is why we have not yet done a SongSurround I with a ribbon tweeter.  Of course, if someone wanted one, we'd certainly build it - no question about that.

As for the matching center, we already have that (SongCenter with ribbon tweeter upgrade).

So the Songcenter matches the songbird? slightly different tweeter correct? I like the size of the songbird for my space. Really want to hear this speaker!

The Song Center uses the 0W2 tweet, the SB uses the 0W1.  But the sound is identical--it's just a matter of inherent sensitivity.  With two woofs running in parallel, you need the more sensitive 0W2.

I was wondering how you decided which OW tweeter to use? Makes plenty of sense.

One would think that a 5.1 system of Songbirds (4 SB's and SC) would sound quite nice...not to mention look amazing.

Hi,

The hiquophon tweeter has a great reputation and I'm sure would sound great in the new songbird speaker.  I guess in the end it comes down to cost effectiveness for the design.  My understanding that by adding a ribbon tweeter would blow the cost out to about $500 - 700US for a pair of songbird speakers.

I have a pair of nuforce s9 speakers which I'm disappointed with and I have a funny feeling that the songbird would probably be on a par or outperform these speakers.

Amazing value from Jim and Dennis again.

Regards
