I just read today that a San Francisco judge has slapped an injuction on 321 Studios, the maker of DVD X Copy. For now it will be illegal to sell any DVD burning software that includes a decrypter. 321 is filing an appeal and will almost certainly will seek to lift the injuction while the suit it pending.
The humorous thing is that this won't affect things much as there are many, many free decrypters that anyone can download. And if one happened to download said freeware, one might want to burn a couple backup copies of it to CD-R...
