Remote control ideas?
« on: 5 Feb 2010, 06:53 pm »
Hi-

This is my first foray into "highend" budget computer stereo setup. So, I ordered the Nuforce Icon and Paradigm Atom speakers after a lot of research. The main use is to listen to music and watch movies on my laptop and big Acer 27in display from about 6-8 feet away.

I stumbled across ADM 9.1 speaker system. I would have loved to buy it, except for the fact that it is like US$2000. That's a lot of green. The one feature I like is the remote control.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to add remote control to my setup.

Would something like ExpressCard Media Remote for Bluetooth http://www.smklink.com/index.php?id=Njg1 work? Any other thoughts or inputs??

I haven't seen or used the Interlink VP6600 remote, but it sounds like it would work well for your application, provided that your laptop has a ExpressCard/54 slot, Bluetooth and Media Center.

However, Amazon, Buy.com and Newegg list it as currently unavailable from the manufacturer or out of stock.

I like the fact that it stores and recharges in the ExpressCard slot.  If your laptop doesn't have Bluetooth built-in, you can add a mini USB Bluetooth adapter such as this one:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320035&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Network+-+Bluetooth-_-ASUS-_-33320035.

I guess you could try and contact Interlink and find out what the status is.

Jason,

Is the RF receiver a mini USB key, or is it an external receiver that plugs into the USB port with a cable?  I don't see a photo of the receiver on the product page, is there a link to a photo or can you post one?

The RF remote control comes with a RF transmitter that plugs into the USB port.
