I am the new owner of a pair of Odyssey Lorelei's. The are a 2 way rear ported floor stander with a 7 inch woofer. They tend towards being bass heavy depending on the room.
I live in a 3rd floor condo, suspended wooden floor.
I have attached a snapshot of the speakers and a rough sketch of the room layout.

So when listening to spoken word like on TV male voices resonate or sound chesty...
Also I get a lot of backround rumble on live broadcasts such as the Olympics, assuming it could be the same frequency resonating.
I am also experiencing a loudness of the background say again on TV, where the background voices and noises are actually louder than the main people talking, sounds weird, any tips guys?
Here is a snapshot of the room, the two monitors on stands are no longer there, the floor standers are my main speakers, moved into the place of the monitors. They sit infront of this alcove that is about 3 to 4 feet deep and angles upward and toward the listening position.
I have moved them speakers another 8" away from the alcove from the picture, but still get too much bass. I can also assume the first reflections from the fireplace on the left and the angled part of the alcove on the right can be contributing some nasty reflections.
Given that I am trying to work within the wife factor, I would appreciate the ideal situation and and
maybe what I could do if the speakers and listening position need to stay in the same general vicinity.
I have heard that you can put extensions on the rear port to slow the air flow through the rear port and calm the bass, but wanted to get other opinions.
Thanks.
