In case you missed it:

"The Audio Nirvana 'Super 15 Cast Frame' ($398/pr) has a frequency response from 22 hz to almost 15,000 hz. You can expect at least 99 db efficiency in any of our cabinets. It handles 50 watts continuous RMS (normal listening level will be about 1/10 watt). Impedance is 8 ohms. Voice coil is 2.0 inches (50 mm). Magnet weight is 4.3 lbs. Total weight is 18 lbs. The cone is made of paper. The surround is accordion style and made of treated cloth. The phase plug is copper anodized, machined solid aluminum. The frame is cast aluminum. A separate tweeter is not necessary. Few people can hear above 14,000 cycles, so the upper limits of this speaker are all most people will ever need. You might be interested to note, for example, that FM radio is limited to 15,000 hz. In one of our larger cabinets, this is probably the best sounding speaker we have for sale."

I agree.  A xoverless FR is very good sound, more yet with a big 15inches paper cone. The 14kHz low treble extension do not bother my ears, for this low price is hard to get more.

I have those in OB and they sound pretty nice, however. I am going to add Eminence Alpha-15A 15" drivers to achieve better bass  definition. ( but that will have to wait when I'll come back from sunny Jamaica)

Cheers

Skip the Eminence Alpha-15As and put the Super Cast Frame 15" ANs in the 13.6 enclosures.

I'm working on some 13.6s here on chilly Maui. 8)

been to Maui twice.
It is a paradise.
Hana highway made me dizzy but Haleakalā (took a bike ride from the top ones) is just spectacular.

Intriguing stuff on the new Alnico's. I owned a pair of Lowther 2.8 Ambience speakers CommonSense Audio for over two years and loved them. They were my first single driver speakers and were a revolution to me. No going back to crossover designs for me.

Had a good experience with David too.  Those painted cabinets above ARE cool!

Hi,
I live all the year in a sunny area, now is 30ºC(75ºF), no tube amps or Transistor class A amps with this temperature..., air conditioning raise the room noise floor etc...     Hot season here lasts from October to March...

After a brief look at the new Super15COAX spec chart, I see in relation to the original Super15CF that:
1  The Freq Range graphic seems very better now, it is smoother, flater,
2  The MMS is lighter 47gr now,
3  Impedance curve have only small cone break-ups now,
4  Impedance curve is very hi on the treble,
5  SPL is lower, 93dB now, electrical efficiency is lower too(1,3%)
6  Power handling is the same, 50Wcont, 80W peak,
7  BL is small, 7,428TM now, was 10,733TM in the Super15CF,
8  All Q values are higher than the original Super15CF, even better for OB use...
9  VAS=686Litres is also higher in the new Super15COAX,
10  XMAX is the same(1mm),
11  But response ended in 11kHz only.
For me, I prefer the COAX model, as oneway, no tweeter use, at least in the numbers.
Congratulations to Mr.David Dicks, a beautiful FullRange...

What the size of the OB  you're  using with the Super Cast Frame 15" ANs?

I have the super "8" cast basket drivers in birch ply cabs. This is my first experience with wide bandwidth single driver speakers. I had never even heard any. I was always dissatisfied with commercial manufactured two ways with cross overs, so I thought I would give the super 8's a try. They are reasonably priced and I can build my own boxes so why not? I have to say these are not perfect speakers, but, they are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned. This spring when it warms up I am going to pull the drivers and veneer the cabs. and install the new super 8 alinco's for even better sound.... :thumb:
