What does a leaky capacitor look like?

A cap on my QSC amp has some goo at its base.  It is hard and kinda looks like and feels like dried, hard hot glue and is dark yellow.  Could this be the cap or just some type of excess adhesive, or something. . .???

Here are some pics:

Thanks!

From the pic, it looks like adhesive, (hot glue). Leaking `lytic caps that I have seen have a whiteish powdery substance on them with traces of oil looking substance.

It's very likely hot glue. Many manufactures put a dab of glue on the electrolytics to hold them in during assembly. When an electrolytic fails it's often spectacular and easy to spot.

I had on in my step son's PC let go and all I could find was the case and the leads on the circuit board.  :o

I have a USA 900 QSC amp. What model are you working on? I could definately use a quieter fan.

I have an RMX850.

Go to the tech forum on QSCaudio.com and find out the specs of your fan.  A lot of the models require different fans.
