Comander 381 The Voice of Music

Picked up one of these portable turntables this afternoon.

Pretty nice looking unit, vinyl needs a good cleaning and the metal needs a good polish.

However I can't find much info about them. Anybody know where I can find some history and the approx. value?

I also need power and speaker cords if some one happens to have some laying around.

That kind of thing is all over ebay and craigslist.  I like fiddling with those kinds of players and have bought several.  I place value in something like that in how interesting it is.  Tonearm shape, features (cool looking lights, e.g.), manufacturer (Webcor, Zenith, RCA, Magnavox Westinghouse, Telefunken), era, all come into play.  Considering it is an off brand (why you can't find anything on it) and isn't particularly interesting, I'd say it might be worth $20.

If you have time on your hands, and enjoy tinkering, go through it and buff it up.  I have a player like that in my office I play old used records on, weird stuff like Chinese music and Martin Denny.  I enjoy it.  I get my idler wheels and styli from this guy.
