Also, from what I know static electricity isn't a problem with high humidity, its a problem when humidity is very low.  I don't think I ever get shocked getting out of my car in the summer.  In the winter, especially around January and February, its an almost everytime occurrance.  Same thing happens when I open doors in my house.

My BP26 switches on the mute button when I discharge static electricity from my finger to the faceplate or volume knob.  I've never experienced static produced spontaneously by my CD player (not a BCD-1 admittedly).  Can that happen (especially this time of year as you have pointed out, Stu)?

I had this problem before.  It was the CDs, not the player.  The CDs were burned too fast.  When I re-recorded them using slower speed like 6x or so, the ticking went away.  They sounded the same in every CD player I used.

I doubt that's your problem.  I think you said you're using original CDs.  Bryston will take good care of you.

Static is far worse in the summer, not much for lighting storms in the winter up here.

Gee's I get static issues in the winter because the house is so dry from the central gas heating?

Right James.  Hockey, plowing snow, freezing my a** off and having two ways of muting my BP26 are the things I love most about winter.

That's what I was getting at.  I've heard that static electricity builds up more in dry air because there's not much water vapor in the air to neutralize it.

When I took my shirt off 2 nights ago in my unlit bedroom, not only did I hear and feel the typical static electricity stuff, I also saw feint blue/white flashes.  It was pretty cool, actually.  I turned the humidifier on immediately after that.

Hi Stu,

I figured I'd get a reply like that in 5 minutes

And that 5 minute reply time is a little over 3 minutes longer than my 'bedroom electricity.'  :duh:

 The worse thing your wife can do is brag to her friends how electric you are in the bedroom......  :icon_lol: lets hope she does.

Talked to Mike today in service and should have the BCD-1 back for the weekend, they've done the software upgrade and the tick did not show up. That may actual make sense as I was one of the few getting weird character displays so there may have been a serious glitch in my software.
Hopefully the problems have been resolved as I've by brother with the golden ears  in town next week itching to hear my setup.
