10 years? I mostly collect jazz and classical so sometimes it takes me 20 years to catch up in other genres. Fortunately I have friends (and a wife) who occasionally insist I pay attention to a great artist. That's how I discovered both Eva Cassidy and Peter Wolf. My wife has gotten me to appreciate Pink and it took my 89 year old father-in-law, a nearly exclusive classical music guy, to turn me on to Roy Orbison. I also discovered some fine jazz guitarists, including Mimi Fox, by following a thread on the Circle. So thank God for friends, family and AC or I'd still be listening to nothing but early Miles.

  • I reject your music, and substitute my own.

I don't like too much "new" music; so, down the road, I will discover something that I actually like.

Glad your liking Camel, Laura. Now for some embarrassing admissions. I recently found the Human League and the Thomson Twins. Did I say I was discovering the 80s?

 :duh:

Both good bands. Thompson Twins is an 80's favorite of mine.

I have alot of selections to choose from at home and that's just a drop in the musical bucket.
If I could live another 100 years and music stopped in 2010. I probably could not get
through all that is available now...........Bill

Better late than never. How would it be if there was nothing left to discover?

I love Garbage, one of my favorite bands.

I was not a big fan when their first two CDs were hot. But somewhere around the 3rd or 4th, I started digging them, and wen't back to the first two.

Great singing, writing, and outstanding production for a rock record.

There's so much music, you can't possibly find it all...

Always finding something new!

I always suggest a Rhapsody subscription.  For $12 a month, you can sample a lot of music that you might not have stumbled upon...

+1 for Rhapsody - you can evaluate albums you want to purchase, you can research the back catalog of an artist, they list influences, contemporaries and followers of artists, so you can easily branch off and find related artists. If you like a piece of classical music, you can listen to many different performances of it, and decide which might be worth purchasing.

Even though it is a relatively low res audio source - I find it has greatly broadened my musical world.
