Steve, if this is going to be used by kids for movies/games do you even need an 'audiophile' speaker? You could probably find a boom and swish speaker such as Cerwin Vega or the like for next to nothing on eBay.

How about a family project? You and your kids can build a kit. Something easy and inexpensive like a Pi Three ($320) or Four ($380), plus wood. I bet they'd really get a kick out of doing this, plus you get to spend quality time, plus they'd be the envy of all of their friends. Who knows, perhaps someday one of them will be successful building and selling great speakers and buy you a retirement home in Hawaii as a thanks for getting them started. :thumb:

This seems like a really good suggestion. I've also found that kids value something more when they helped build it.
