I purchased some ceiling and in wall speakers on closeout. I am going to put the in wall speakers in my upstairs as surround speakers (while I have the drywall down in the room beneath the living room, so that I can run the cable). The instructions with the in wall speakers basically say to cut a hole using the supplied template and pop the speakers in. You rotate these clips around and tighten them onto the drywall. The speakers are front ported but have no rear enclosure.
With no rear enclosure, are the speakers manufactured assuming an 8 foot high by 3.5 inch deep by 14.5 inches (approximately) wide enclosure? If so, what happens if I put it in an enclosure that's only about 4 feet high, which is what I'm going to do? Will be bass be bloated because of this?
