Sorry for being cryptic, it's a tree, Eucalyptus Haemastoma. The "scribbles" are caused, as I understand it, by the larvae of certain bugs. The interesting about this shot (I think) is that it shows how the bark peels off to then display tracks from different bugs. The scale of this shot is perhaps 6" in height (hard to remember, to be honest).

Looks great, an interesting texture.  It would make a good book cover.  Those bugs had no idea they were making art.
