Jim's Crimson Maple HT2-TL's
« on: 18 Dec 2009, 11:44 pm »
Jim wanted a lighter wood with a lot of character.  We had just purchased a batch of some very unique maple.  It was being sold as "Crimson Maple," although there really is no such wood.  It had some darker areas along with a curly figuring pattern approaching a heavy quilt pattern.

We purchased this batch just because it was very unique.  I figured that the right project would eventually come along and the result would be visually stunning.

When Jim asked what ideas I had for him, I immediately thought of this veneer.

Here are the results...

Here is a close-up...

Happy listening Jim!

Those are stunning.  Add a bit of red to that, and I'd be sold!!!

I dunno Jim, I'd hate to come home after a nite at the bar 3 sheets to the wind and look at that veneer. :duh:    The head spins are coming back to me just thinking about it(over 8 years sober myself). There's quite the ripple effect working there for sure and should light up any room. Jim's sure to be a proud owner.  :thumb:

I sure could go for a speaker in every veneer.  Those are pretty nifty.

Very interesting and nice veneer.  Good job of matchiing up the splices to make a unique and appealing finish.  He will definitely be a proud owner!

WOW...  how do you find all these bitchin' veneers Jim?  That quilting makes the maple look like it is under water!  Outstanding.

Jim: You are a bad man!!!  :)

Those look fantastic.  I'd go a bit deeper and perhaps a little more on the orange or golden side.

Seriously, you've got me drooling. . .

It is a little wild, IMHO. You do have a way with finishes though. Impressive.

Wow, those look amazing, Jim.  Congratulations, Jim (the new owner, not the designer, haha)!

P.S.  I'd take any of those photoshop rendition colors as well.  What a look!

Hi all...  I'm the Jim for whom these are destined.  My house is under major renovation at the moment, so I will need to wait for a week or so before having them shipped.  That's a bummer, but believe me...  my house right now is not the place for a fine pair of speakers like these (it resembles an active battle zone more than anything).  It will be soon, though!  I'll try to remember to post some pics when they arrive.  I can hardly wait...   :thumb:

heck with the speakers, Jim, these guys just want to see the pictures of the FedX truck!
(just kidding, of course)  They should be right at home in a newly renovated room.
enjoy
