Dale's fiery HT2-TL's
« on: 16 Dec 2009, 10:30 pm »
Dale wanted a pair of HT2-TL's in a "fireburst" finish.  This finish turned out exceptionally nice.  When the light hits the cabinets just right, they really do appear to be on fire.

I was not able to shoot a photo that captures the feeling, but the close-up below at least provides a hint.

Here are the HT2-TL's...

And here is a close-up...

Happy listening Dale! (Careful not to burn yourself!)

That is our standard curly maple.  Obviously the effect would be even greater with fiddleback, curly English maple (tiger maple) or quilted maple.  But it is hard to justify the increased cost when standard curly maple works this well.

That is basically the standard price plus about $200 for the dye job.

We start with the base red/orange dye mix and spray coats until that color is where we want it.  Then we mix in a little dark walnut into the dye mixture and spray some wide bands on the edges fading into the middle.  Finally we take black spray dye and spray the edges in a narrow band fading into the brown/orange/red dye.
