Here is a pair of Audio Nirvana .

short story a friend of mine had these well he had the wood cut had the speakers and just never took the time to finish them ..

So I ask what you going to do with them he just said finish them and then tell him what I think ...

Well do any of us take a pass at a pair of speakers I don't think so ...

Ok got them home and started to work on them the wood needed to be finish not lot of work just a good sand down and some clear a screw here and a bit of wood glue and they you have my  a somewhat finish work ...

I still want to add a better touch on them the finish is good for now but i want to make them look better some what a rough finish for the moment ...

Ok so all of you open baffle fans give me input .. I'm looking to go with a low power amp either mono blocks or a good integrated amp  these are my first open baffles so this all new to me ... So fire away and give me input thanks to all  by the way pictures in Gallery

Hi Rafael,

Can you give us a little more detail on what you are looking for, sound wise?

And which Audio Nirvana drivers are those? The Super 12"? Super 10"? Stamped or Cast frame?

For my Audio Nirvana Super 12" in the dual port enclosures recommended by David Dicks at Common Sense audio at the time I bought them, I decided to go with a current source FirstWatt F1. FirstWatt is a Nelson Pass company that (eventually) provides all the details necessary for a DIY version to be built. I chose the F1 for the greater frequency extension, particularly in the bass dept. Though now that I am using these drivers paired with dual subwoofers, that aspect that led me to the F1 is less pressing. But the graphs in the 6moons article on the F1 amp speak to nice frequency extension with this unique current source design (which can ONLY be used with full range drivers, not multidriver speakers).

I've also found that I've liked the sound of Gainclone monoblocks with these speakers for a warmer sound.

Since these are pretty sensitive drivers you might also want to look into the low-powered MiniWatt tube amp, which many folks have raved about (6moons and others have reviewed it). Price is a steal. Haven't heard it, but it has a lot of buzz.

Virtue amps also have a devoted following here, and could work here. I also haven't heard this pairing, but I am mighty curious about it. A little more powerful than the other amps I've mentioned. And amazingly, possibly overkill (?). One beauty of full range drivers is the minimal amount of power needed to drive them.

Enjoy your new speakers. Look forward to hearing your impressions. I've been toying for a while with the idea of putting my AN drivers in an open baffle configuration (again, as the low frequencies can be aided by the subwoofers).

Thanks for the input .. They are the super 12 cast ...

as for the sound well I don't like to much bass and like the sound to be smooth and liquid refine yet to fill the room and my ears

to hear the instruments and the vocals as if the singer was in the room ... I have not had the chance to look up to much information on a amp and watts that need to drive them .

As for the  low-powered MiniWatt tube amp, or the F1  Haven't heard it.  I do like the idea of a pair of mono blocks that have low power ...

From what I was told tube is the best way to go with these speakers ... I do like the tube sound

Roscoeiii do you have a link to the gain clone ..

As I will ponder many thoughts on which direction to go but I will not rush will look and see to were I can be happy with sound that the products i chose to fit these speakers ...

I have had many different system and sometimes I think that we fill our eyes before our ears ..there are so many different ways to go they all look good but it's performance that should be met ....

Gainclones are a popular DIY amp that can be found fairly frequently for sale here and on Audiogon for pretty cheap.  Monoblocks are a little rarer but come up every now and then. Or you can get monoclone kits and instructions various places around the internet. diyaudio.com is a good place to look for Gainclone and F1 info. But some of those threads are looonnng.

Good luck in your search.

Why not hook them up to what ever you have now? At least you'll get an idea of how they sound b4 you proceed.
