Double Ugly

I'm looking for "must have" recordings (CD) of Copland's work for my wife, but need help finding them.

She loves orchestral music, especially Copland, but has only one CD and it's of mediocre quality.  I'm not a big fan of this type music, at least not yet, and don't know where to begin.  Any Copland fans care to offer suggestions?

Thanks.

I have a few instances of Copelands works on Telarc compliation cd's.  On "Classical Thunder"  there is a really good version of "Fanfare for the common man" Decca is also good.

NAXOS isn't bad, and very cheap.

I'll second the Naxos recommendation.  I'd have to look at the #'s on them  but I have some really nice ones from Naxos' Copeland discs.

Reference Recordings RR-93CD: Fanfare for the Common Man, Appalachian Spring Suite, Third Symphony.  The opening bass drum hits on Fanfare will tax your system to the utmost.  They are some of the biggest ones I have heard recorded.  They sucked all 380w/ch. full class A out of my Spectral amp.  The overall recording is excellent; what else would one expect from Keith Johnson and RR?  Enjoy.
