Okay  Wayne, you got me .

I have a pair of Advent Heritage that I got for $25.    After I refoam them and give a listen for awhile, I will probably reinforce the cabs, dump the poly tweeter in favor of a silk dome and work up a new crossover, turning it into a 2.5 way if the layout and woofers allow it.  So I can identify with your point of view.  Beside, I'm a tinkerer, too.

However, the Heritage are not the piece of history that the Large Advents are.  I just hate to see them modded, that's all  :(

Bill,

If the Advents were unique, I would agree with you. There were half a million of the OLA made in eight years. Then came the New Larger Advent with similar sales numbers. You can find these speakers in almost every thrift shop in this country.

They are a great platform for modding, similar to the Dynaco Stereo 70.

I cannot build and veneer a cabinet for the price I can get used Advents or other speakers of that era.

Enjoy your build.
