Klaus,

I received the Khartago hours after I called you!

I've had it powered on today... sounds great already. But, man o man after around 5 hours of being powered up (and only 2 of those playing music) it is extremely hot! Temp is right at the limit of what I can keep my hand on. That's a far cry from the Stratos, fer sher. Is this the norm?

Hello,

I have mine driving Martin Logans and it does not even get close to making any heat.    Joe

Ellis 1801's.

Yes, Klaus tried to call me last night but I was out. He left a message that this didn't sound right. Thanks for the responses.

Mine runs very, very warm. Specs call for 4-5" in clearance which I can't accommodate right now unless I stack the amp on top of everything else (wife's system in livingroom). Maybe a few wooden Jenga blocks between the amp and the cdp/preamp combo??? Speakers are Monitor Audio Bronze 2 speced out at 6 ohms and I think 89 dB SPL. NAD C270 never got this warm...

It turns out I have a problem with my BPT unit which I had the Khartago plugged into. There's another thread I started in the 2-channel forum if anyone's interested.

In addition to the problem with my unit, it appears that an unloaded bpt is 5 VAC higher from the outlets than the power coming in (I have yet to verify this with Chris). This could also have a fairly large effect on the case temp of the amp.

I want to say that Klaus has been RIGHT-THERE helping me to troubleshoot this and I am (once again) nothing but impressed by his over-and-above service.  :D

I don't mean for my initial post on this new amp to give any negative impressions. In fact, the Khartago is much more impressive in person than all the pics I've seen thus far and it sounds great already. The hardware and fit and finish is exactly what you would expect from Odyssey and I feel Klaus has hit the mark right between the eyes, especially in today's soft economy.

Update: my BPT works as it should. It looks like the extra 5VAC is causing my heat issues.

Yes,  have this under control together with Randy.  Well,  the Khartago will get hotter than the Strato,  of course, look at the sinks.  Either way, we're well and comfortably within the thermal limits of the parts.  Since the Khartago has internal sinks,  we have the rows of holes in the bottom and top plates,  and yes,  I woul like to see some air circulation here.  Other than that,  the amp should be within 10 - 20 degrees of ambient room temperature.

Also,  part of the custom biasing that we offer free for every single amplifier,  is an adjustment of the biasing according to voltage.  Of course the biasing will increase when the voltag dos,  and so does the temperature,  because higher biased transistos wil simply mit more heat.  BUT  it should never get as hot as what Randy had.  That has to be rectified.

Late,

Klaus

Damn keyboard.  Go Microsoft.  Yeah,  keylss for a hunni is great ///

Anyway, it should read:  the biasing will increase when the voltage DOES and so DOES  the temperature,  because higher biased transistors will simply EMIT  more heat.

This f%^$%$*$ing  "e"  on the kyboard is ver tmpramntal

Hi guys out of topic but I just want to say that this weekend Khartago was in a side toside match up versus Rotel 1065 AV receiver and Rotel RB-1070 and well the guy stated that Khartago was simply better in all the aspects that audiophiles look for.

Thisis maybe not news but I wanted toshare it with you.

He also send a greeting for you Klaus and whole Odyssey team for doing things good, at good prices and caring what's important.

I've heard of this amp, but never seen it.  Why is it not on the website?

Anybody got some pics?
