1) Yes.

2) Bring a line level input to the same place the output of the DAC goes.  (S1).

2) If I wanted to optionally bypass the RIAA EQ for line-level use, could I just install a second set of inputs and wire both sets of inputs through a DPDT switch wired to both R34x and C24x?

Jim,

If I want to have a EQ-bypass line-in to make use of the ADC/DAC to digitize cassette or 8-track (Pink Floyd's Animals if anyone's wondering) or from a Cornet2, wouldn't I just wire this extra input in right after C24?

Also, would it be a bad idea to increase the capacitance of power supply caps C2, C3, C8 & C9? Some threads I've been reading on the Burson discrete op amps state they require a lot of capacitance to perform well, or at least more capacitance than is in the Ripper's supply. I don't know if this claim makes any engineering sense, but if it compromises your design I'll just scrap the idea.

Best,
Benjamin

Yes and yes.  You can put in really big caps for supply decoupling if the bursons need it.

Wow. Over a year later and I'm still not done. That's what you get for working on three projects at a time. Also, I've learned A LOT in the last twelve months: I completed the first year of an electronics engineering technology program, began building a tube-based AM transmitter for the house (no kit, just from a schematic) and started building a Piccolo for use upstream of the Ripper. Or Cornet2, when I get there. Also installed a new driver board in my power amp, upgraded my speaker crossovers and replaced the RCA cables on my turntable with low-capacitance Belkins from Blue Jeans Cable. And then there's the assortment of knowledge I've gleaned from the internet regarding DIY interconnects, hook-up wire and terminations.

As an update, I'll mention that I've given up on using the Burson op amp in the Ripper. The reason being that the voltages in the Ripper are too low for optimal performance from the Bursons, which like at least +/-12V (see the October 09 AudioXpress). I still am going to DIY a chassis, as the caps I've settled on are too oversized for the stock one.

I'll have some pics as I finish.
