Wow. Over a year later and I'm still not done. That's what you get for working on three projects at a time. Also, I've learned A LOT in the last twelve months: I completed the first year of an electronics engineering technology program, began building a tube-based AM transmitter for the house (no kit, just from a schematic) and started building a Piccolo for use upstream of the Ripper. Or Cornet2, when I get there. Also installed a
new driver board in my power amp, upgraded my
speaker crossovers and replaced the RCA cables on my turntable with low-capacitance Belkins from Blue Jeans Cable. And then there's the assortment of knowledge I've gleaned from the internet regarding DIY interconnects, hook-up wire and terminations.
As an update, I'll mention that I've given up on using the Burson op amp in the Ripper. The reason being that the voltages in the Ripper are too low for optimal performance from the Bursons, which like at least +/-12V (see the October 09 AudioXpress). I still am going to DIY a chassis, as the caps I've settled on are too oversized for the stock one.
I'll have some pics as I finish.
