sub stuffing
« on: 14 Nov 2009, 03:49 pm »
I just finished 2 of Danny's 12" servo subs and I am wondering what is the right amount of stuffing? I followed the 1.5cf plans that are on his site. Researching has lead me to very vague numbers. Apparently the servos like less stuffing than normal subs. Currently I have 1.5lbs of poly in each of the subs. What should I be listening for to determine if I have too much or too little stuffing?
thx,
Mike

I placed 6.5oz in each of the subs I built for Marbles...1.5lbs seems like a bit much to me?  Did you tease the material to fluff it up as much as possible.

You used about half of what I put in. Where did you get the 6.5oz number from? The subs with the 1.5lb stuffing sound bloated, I'm not sure if it is an overstuffing issue or a break-in issue.
thx,
Mike

On top of lining it with No Rez, I fill the rest of the area loosely with fiberglass insolation or polyfill.

it took about 6-7oz of fluffed polyfill (natural wool) to fill one enclosure. To make sure they were all the same I weighed the fill on a digital scale @6.5oz. I also lined the enclosures with NoRez.
