Please recommend an LP test album.
« on: 12 Nov 2009, 06:36 pm »
Hi everyone,
I "think" I'm very close to an ideal setup of my cartridge and TT.   All the parameters seem to be right, except I'm new to vinyl and want to be sure it's 100% at it's best.   I am loving what I'm hearing so far.

Are the test albums effective?   Which one is best?

Thanks,

Rob S.

Look for an NAB disk. I think Technics printed some good ones too. Start with the parameters you can measure, then decide what you like.

Yes, I know you meant music. Whatever music you are very familiar with is a good start.

There is no single test record that will have absolutely everything.

It's best to have a few different test records. You can always get used copies of the Shure, Ortofon and other brands in eBay. If I had my system up and running again and some money to spare I'd add the Cardas to my collection. If you are new to vinyl then anything you can get a hold  of for cheap is a great start.

Off topic, OMG, PA is back!  I owe my KAB-modded Technics, vinyl lovin', anti-audiophile, direct-drive conversion to your incessant posting here and in other forums.  Thank you!  :thankyou: :notworthy:

Thanks for your contributions.  An order of goodies from needledoctor was placed, I'm starting with the Cardas album.  :)
